Cholesterol
Cholesterol is a fat-like substance that is found in every cell of the body and is required for various vital functions, including the production of cell membranes, hormones and vitamin D.There are two main types of cholesterol: the so-called "good" HDL cholesterol and the "bad" LDL cholesterol. Too high a level of LDL cholesterol in the blood can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. Replacing saturated fatty acids with monounsaturated and/or polyunsaturated fatty acids in the diet is a well-known strategy for maintaining a normal cholesterol level. The omega-3 fatty acids DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) play a particularly important role here.
The targeted intake of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) can help to support the balance of your cholesterol level.
