Joints and quality of life: the essential role of cartilage

Our joints play a fundamental role in our quality of life and well-being. After all, it is joints that make it possible for us to move our limbs. More than 100 of these fascinating structures can be found in our body - wherever two bones meet.

A very important joint component is the cartilage layer, which is rich in collagen fibres. It lies protectively over the ends of the bones and thus prevents bone from "rubbing" against bone. Maintaining this joint cartilage and supplying it with the necessary nutrients: this is understandably extremely important in order to be able to move without pain in the long term. However, many people are no longer able to do this.

Our joint capsules contain 8 ingredients that complement each other perfectly

  • Green-lipped mussel with 2% glycosaminoglycans
  • Glucosamine
  • Devil's claw
  • Willow bark extract with 15% salicin
  • Magnesium L-ascorbate with 83% vitamin C
  • Collagen type II (UC®-II)
  • Manganese
  • Vitamin D3

Holistic support for joint health: Green-lipped mussel, glucosamine and more

1. Green-lipped mussel
The green-lipped mussel (Pema canaliculus) is a type of mussel that is mainly native to New Zealand. It contains so-called glycosaminoglycans (long-chain amino sugar compounds). These are also found in human synovial fluid (synovial fluid), connective tissue and joint cartilage.
The green-lipped mussel also contains omega-3 fatty acids and other minerals and trace elements.

2. Glucosamine
Glucosamine is a naturally occurring amino sugar in the body. In the human body, it is mainly found in connective tissue, cartilage and synovial fluid.

3. Devil's claw
Devil's claw (Harpagophytum procumbens) belongs to the sesame family and is mainly native to South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. In African countries in particular, devil's claw has been used for many thousands of years for a wide variety of applications.

4. Willow bark extract
Willow bark (Salicis cortex) has been used for various preparations since ancient times. It contains various phenols, such as the glucoside salicin, which is converted to salicylic acid in the digestive tract. Salicin forms the basis for acetylsalicylic acid (ASA, also known as aspirin). Our willow bark extract contains 15% salicin.

5. Magnesium L-ascorbate (vitamin C)
Magnesium L-ascorbate is a particularly stomach-friendly, well-tolerated and alkaline vitamin C compound. It is particularly suitable for users who cannot tolerate conventional vitamin C products (often containing ascorbic acid).
Vitamin C contributes to:

  • to the normal function of the immune system during and after intensive physical activity
  • normal collagen formation for the normal function of blood vessels, bones, cartilage, gums, skin and teeth
  • normal energy metabolism
  • normal function of the nervous system
  • normal psychological function
  • normal function of the immune system to protect cells from oxidative stress
  • to reduce tiredness and fatigue
  • contribute to the regeneration of the reduced form of vitamin E
  • to improve the absorption of iron

6. Collagen type II (UC®-II)
At 30%, collagen makes up the largest proportion of human protein content. It ensures the maintenance of normal movement, elasticity and strength of connective tissue, bones and cartilage.
UC-II is a special type II collagen that is naturally produced from chicken breast bone. This form of collagen is particularly valuable because it is not denatured, in other words it is still in its natural form. Type II collagen is also a main component of human cartilage and ensures its strength, among other things.

7. Manganese
Manganese is an essential trace element and is responsible for activating many enzymes in the body. Manganese also contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and normal connective tissue formation.

8. Vitamin D3
Vitamin D, which has been researched for decades, is known for its versatile and amazing effects on almost all areas of the human body. Vitamin D (calciferol) is also known as the "sun vitamin", as it can largely be produced by the body itself with the help of sunlight. There are two different forms of vitamin D: vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) and vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). Vitamin D2 is the form that is mainly found in plants, while vitamin D3 is mainly found in non-plant organisms. The vitamin D3 form is therefore also present in humans and this also appears to be significantly more effective and easier for the body to absorb.

For strong teeth and bones: The positive effects of vitamin DStudies

based on vitamin D produced from lanolin (wool wax) have shown that:

  • Vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system
  • Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal teeth and bones
  • Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function
  • Vitamin D contributes to normal absorption and utilisation of calcium, phosphorus and normal blood calcium levels
