Healthy inspiration from Japan: understanding and utilising nattokinase
Nattokinase is an enzyme that occurs naturally in natto, a traditional Japanese dish made from fermented soya beans.
Natural production of nattokinase - tradition and craftsmanship: Natto is a traditional Japanese dish and is made by fermenting soya beans with Bacillus subtilis natto. The process begins with boiling the beans, followed by the addition of the bacterium for fermentation. The beans are stored in a warm environment to complete the fermentation process. In addition to nattokinase, natto contains other proteases, soya isoflavones and probiotic bacteria. Natto, which has been known in Japan for over 1000 years, is often produced there and is an integral part of the diet.
Processing and use: The concentrated enzyme is dried and ground into a fine powder or processed into capsules/tablets.
Nattokinase and the FU unit - Fibrinolytic properties:
The fibrinolytic units (FU) of nattokinase are a unit of measurement for the enzymatic activity of this protein. The higher the number of FU, the stronger the fibrinolytic activity of nattokinase. In food supplements, the amount of nattokinase is often stated in FU per gram or per capsule. The indication in FU is a good way of assessing the strength and quality of a nattokinase preparation.
Why nattokinase without vitamin K and without vitamin K2?
Our nattokinase formula has been specifically developed to ensure maximum purity and versatility. By deliberately omitting vitamin K and K2, we enable flexible integration into your personal diet without affecting your vitamin K intake. This is particularly relevant for people who take blood-thinning medication and require precise control of their vitamin K intake. Vitamin K plays an essential role in the regulation of blood clotting. Because our Nattokinase does not contain vitamin K, we can rule out negative interactions with the enzyme.

The correct dosage of nattokinase
We recommend a daily intake of 2,000 FU, which corresponds to about 100 mg of nattokinase. Higher dosages, which have been used in some studies, are currently not recommended.
Absorption in the body
Nattokinase is an enzyme that, like bromelain from pineapple, can break down proteins. Although nattokinase is comparatively large, it can at least partially penetrate the intestinal mucosa. If you take nattokinase in the form of a capsule, it or its active components are absorbed in the intestine through the intestinal mucosa into the bloodstream.
When should Nattokinase be taken?
For optimal effectiveness of Nattokinase, it is recommended to take the enzyme on an empty stomach. This is because food or other food supplements can impair the absorption and effect of Nattokinase. Taking it on an empty stomach allows better absorption via the intestinal mucosa and the enzyme can be absorbed more effectively into the bloodstream. This approach maximises the chances of making optimal use of the fibrinolytic properties of nattokinase. However, it is advisable to consider individual needs and tolerances and consult a doctor if necessary.
Is nattokinase banned?
Contrary to some speculation and misunderstandings, Nattokinase is by no means banned. On the contrary, as a manufacturer of food supplements, we value the unique benefits of this natural enzyme. Our high-quality nattokinase products comply with legal requirements and enable our customers to benefit from the many advantages of this enzyme. We emphasise transparency and quality assurance to ensure that our nattokinase supplements are a safe and effective addition to your diet.

Questions and answers
Why can the nattokinase capsules vary slightly in colour depending on the batch?
Our nattokinase contains 100 mg nattokinase per capsule. As the capsule has to be completely filled for technical reasons, we use around 400 mg of organic rice flour (instead of chemical/artificial fillers) to fill the capsule completely. As the rice flour is not bleached, it may vary slightly in appearance (colour) depending on the batch. As rice flour makes up the majority of the capsule contents, slight changes in the colour of the rice flour can lead to a different appearance of the capsule. This is of course completely harmless and is due to the fact that rice flour is a natural organic product.
Why is nattokinase soya-free if it is made from soya beans?
Although our nattokinase is originally obtained from soya beans, only the nattokinase enzyme is "extracted" from them. The remaining components of the soya bean extract are separated and the nattokinase no longer contains any soya due to the subsequent purification. This is also tested and confirmed by external laboratories.
Why does nattokinase not contain vitamin K1 or K2?
Vitamin K2 has a direct influence on blood clotting. Many people therefore want to precisely control their vitamin K2 intake. As the vitamin K in nattokinase cannot be standardised, our nattokinase is purified so that it no longer contains vitamin K1 or K2. So if you want to take vitamin K2, you can also use separate products from us.
