Organic oregano oil: traditional use and modern production

Oregano (Origanum vulgare) is not only a popular culinary herb, but is also used in high doses in food supplements due to its special properties.

Our organic oregano oil is obtained from the herb oregano (Origanum vulgaris) by gentle steam distillation. Oregano belongs to the labiate family and is also known in this country as "wild marjoram" or "Wohlgemut". Oregano originates from the Mediterranean region and has been held in high esteem for many centuries due to its valuable ingredients carvacrol, linalool and limonene.

What makes our capsules special is that they are encapsulated in an enteric-coated form with a plant-based capsule shell made from cellulose (plant fibres) instead of capsule shells made from gelatine, which are often made from beef or pork. The gastro-resistant encapsulation means that the oregano oil is only released in the intestine and not in the stomach.
