OPC grape seed extract: origin, benefits and uses

The German favorite, grapes, have fought their way to third place in the most popular German fruit varieties. But it's not just about the sweet grapes themselves, but also about the tiny seeds, which are brimming with important secondary plant substances – especially the ingredient OPC.

Grapes are among the fruits with the highest sugar content, so they should be enjoyed in moderation. To still reap the benefits of the OPCs contained in grape seeds, you can now easily use sugar-free grape seed extract. This extract is both rich in OPC and very low in sugar.

OPC - What is behind it?

In short:OPC stands for "oligomeric proanthocyanidins"Simply put, these are substances that belong to the group of polyphenols, which in turn are secondary plant substances. Have you heard of antioxidants?OPC is one of the antioxidantsand is found in large quantities in the seeds and skins of red and blue grapes.

In grapes, OPC protects the fruit from oxidative stress and free radical damage through its powerful antioxidant effect. This antioxidant effect contributes to maintaining the quality and shelf life of the grapes.

In the human body, various micronutrients such as vitamin B2, selenium, vitamin C, vitamin E, and zinc also contribute to protecting the body from oxidative stress. This oxidative stress is caused by free radicals that the body itself produces or by external influences such as UV radiation (e.g., from the sun), cigarette smoke, diseases, and environmental toxins/air pollution. In OPC supplements, the OPC is primarily extracted from grape seeds, which contain the highest concentration of this antioxidant.

OPC Mono Kapseln von Sinoplasan

What makes our OPC special

Our OPC is extracted from the skins and seeds of the southern French grape varieties Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache from the Champagne, Alsace, Loire and Occitanie regions.

To produce our OPC capsules, we use only grapes cultivated in France, which are processed directly on-site. Sustainability is a top priority in this process. For example, the treated water used in production is reused to irrigate the vineyards.

Our OPC capsules contain no additives and are 100% vegan and natural.

What should I keep in mind when taking OPC?

Taking grape extract can easily be integrated into your morning routine. It is best to take the OPC before breakfast with plenty of water.Taking it in the morning is ideal, as the body can absorb the valuable ingredients best on an empty stomach rather than with or immediately after a meal. You can basically take OPC at any time of day, as long as it's ideally taken at least 30 minutes before a meal.

Which foods contain OPC?

Not only red grapes are rich in OPC, but also in other foods such asYou can find this valuable antioxidant in blueberries, cranberries, apples, peanuts, rose hips, strawberries, cinnamon and dark chocolate.

It should be noted that although the foods mentioned above contain OPC, even large amounts do not contain a comparable OPC content to dietary supplements containing OPC. Blueberries, for example, contain approximately 44 mg of OPC per 100 g. Our OPC capsules contain 105 mg of pure OPC in just one capsule. We recommend two OPC capsules per day, for a total of 210 mg.
