While the fruits are often consumed as olives or olive oil, the leaves of the olive tree can be processed into a highly concentrated extract or tea.

In antiquity, not only the ancient Greeks and Romans recognized the special properties of these leaves, but Mediterranean peoples also incorporated them into their folk medicine. The famous Hildegard of Bingen used olive leaf tea to enhance well-being, while in ancient Egypt, pharaohs were mummified using pressed olive leaves. This method protected the pharaohs' mummies from parasites, fungi, and bacteria. Olive leaf extract: A natural source of powerful oleuropein

Oleuropein is a powerful antioxidant substance, found in various parts of the olive tree, including roots, bark, fruit, and especially in the leaves. Oleuropein plays a crucial role in the olive tree's survival. It not only acts as a shield against free radicals but also protects the tree from damage that could be caused by insect infestations, bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Due to its high oleuropein content, the olive tree's resistance is increased to such an extent that it can reach a remarkable age of up to 1000 years.

Oleuropein is particularly interesting due to its antioxidant effect. In the olive leaf, this super-antioxidant is present in a concentration approximately 3000 times higher than in olive oil. This is because the tree retains its leaves for about 5 years and therefore needs to protect them particularly well against pests and fungi during this time. The extraction of oleuropein from fresh olive leaves makes it possible to make this powerful and versatile plant compound available to humans.

The oleuropein content in our olive leaf extracts varies depending on the product. In Olive Leaf Extract BIO FORTE 100%, the oleuropein content is standardized and amounts to a full 10%, which corresponds to a concentration of 12,000 mg per 100 ml. This standardization ensures consistent quality and potency of the extract. For our other variants (NATURA and STANDARD), where the leaves come from wild harvesting, the oleuropein content varies according to the natural conditions of the plants. During wild harvesting, leaves from old trees are primarily harvested, as they have a higher oleuropein content. The manual harvesting of olive leaves is not only environmentally friendly but also crucial for product quality.

For our liquid olive leaf extract variants, we do not use dry extract, but exclusively the 100% pure extract made from fresh leaves.

Application and dosage of olive leaf extract

To ensure optimal effectiveness, the application of olive leaf extract varies depending on the product and concentration. For our highly concentrated product, BIO FORTE 100%, we recommend a daily intake of 3 times 1 ml on an empty stomach. For sensitive individuals, we recommend taking it with a meal.

Our olive leaf extracts NATURA 100% and STANDARD 70% can be dosed individually: three times a day between 2.5 ml and 7.5 ml, with 2.5 ml recommended for prevention, 5 ml as a standard dose, and 7.5 ml for acute situations.
