The magnesium chloride contained in this product comes from the magnesium chloride deposits of the former Zechstein Sea, which dried up about 250 million years ago. Worldwide, the Zechstein Sea is considered the purest and most natural source of high-quality magnesium chloride. It is extracted in the Netherlands from a depth of 1600 m and quality is monitored by constant analysis.

Magnesium chloride is approved for external use and is applied to the skin. 

Magnesium chloride is available in different forms: Oil, Flakes and Gel

Oil: Magnesium oil feels oily, but does not contain a drop of fat, because it is not an oil in the true sense of the word. It is a maximally saturated magnesium solution, called a brine. Magnesium oil has a magnesium chloride content of 31% and consists of 69% water.

Flakes: Magnesium flakes are formed when magnesium oil is heated to over 165 degrees Celsius. This changes the aggregate state of the magnesium oil from liquid to solid. Magnesium flakes have a magnesium chloride content of 47% and consist of 53% water. The strength of the flakes results from the strong water-binding (hygroscopic) property of magnesium chloride. Therefore, the packaging should always be tightly closed, otherwise the flakes will turn back into magnesium oil.

Gel: Magnesium gel is formed from magnesium oil, which acquires a gel-like consistency with the help of natural starch. It has a magnesium chloride content of 31% and consists of 66.2% water and 2.8% hydroxypropyl starch phosphate.
 

Transdermal magnesium vs. magnesium in tablet/capsule/powder form

Transdermal magnesium offers many advantages over other sources of magnesium because it:

  • does not irritate the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract
  • does not have a laxative effect even when applied to the skin in high doses
  • can be applied locally to the desired areas (recommended are areas with sweat glands)
  • is suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women

Please store the product well closed above 5 °C to avoid crystal formation and consume within approx. 36 months.

Apply/spray daily as needed on the skin e.g. muscles, joints, legs, arms, back or shoulders, then massage in briefly. The application time should be at least 30 minutes and can be showered off afterwards. It can also be used as a (foot) bath additive.

There are no interactions with other nutrients.
